Student exchange June 2014

 

 

 

Student exchange program for high school students was put in place for the first time by the members of the India sister city. Presentations were made at Walnut Hills school by Ratee Apana.

4 students from Walnut Hills and one student from Schroeder High School together with a teacher from the German school in Cincinnati, visited and stayed in Delhi,Bangalore, Mysore and Kodagu. They were met at Delhi by committee members, Sujatha Vittal and Varsha Vittal. Varsha Vittal who hails from Mysore, chaperoned  and arranged visits for the students for much of their visit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In Mysore students attended classes at Kautilya Vidayalaya and met with students and faculty at the Royal Jawa Rotary school , St Josephs school and the kalisu foundation.  they were greeted with garlands, they visited palaces, musuems the silk factory, Infosys the largest tech company in India In spite of the hectic schedule, students showed up for early morning classes to learn from the masters of yoga in Mysore the home of Astanga Yoga.

Students loved the unique opportunity to visit Kodagu, where they visited tea and coffee plantations, they enjoyed learning about Indian spices, visited the game reserve, did a leadership course complete with Ziplines and enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of the local people in Kodagu.
