“Navigating a Career with Short Films”

Nov 11 at 11:15AM With Award-Winning Director, Producer, and Writer Manjari Makijani

Manjari will discuss her film making journey, from shorts to her current feature project. She will also talk about doing various industry labs and going to film festivals. A Q&A session will follow.

 

Short Bio of the director :

Manjari is an Indian Writer-Director based in Los Angeles. She’s one of eight directors selected for the prestigious American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women and has participated in the inaugural Fox Filmmakers Lab and is chosen for the Universal Inclusion Program for filmmakers. She’s written and directed three dramatic short films, I SEE YOU, THE CORNER TABLE and THE LAST MARBLE. Her films have won prestigious awards in India, USA, Europe and Australia and have played in festivals like Clermont Ferrand, Rochester, and Emerging Filmmakers showcase at the American Pavilion in Cannes among others. Her feature script, CITY OF GOLD, was nominated for the Nate Wilson Award at the Professional Program in Screenwriting at UCLA, 2015. She’s worked for incredible filmmakers like Christopher Nolan on Dunkirk, Patty Jenkins on Wonder Woman and Vishal Bhardwaj. Her credits as a 2nd-2nd Assistant Director include ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, ‘Mission Impossible 4’ and Bollywood features like ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’, ‘Wake Up Sid’ and ‘Gandhi of the Month’ starring Harvey Keitel.                 Diversity through Film: Local and Global Perspectives Nov 11th at12-1PM

Join local and guest filmmakers, critics, and film programmers to discuss the ways that film can be used to help bring diverse perspectives and a better understanding of the world to Cincinnati audiences.  The panel will close with a preview the afternoon’s film offerings.
